چکیده
In this paper, a novel concept in the field of phase composite ceramics has been proposed and applied for creating topcoats durable thermal barrier coatings (TBCs), which is one most critical technologies advanced high-efficiency gas turbine engines extreme environments. The ceramic TBCs were designed to demonstrate superior comprehensive performance-related merits, benefits, advantages over conventional single-phase with topcoat 8YSZ or Gd2Zr2O7, including stability, shock durability, low conductivity, solid particle erosion resistance. we review summarize development work conducted so far related concept, processing, experimental investigation into TBC behaviors at elevated temperatures (typically, ≥1250 °C) using different evaluation characterization methods, isothermal sintering, burner rig test, particle-impinging CMAS corrosion test. Two-phase (t’+c) zirconia-based demonstrated improved resistance comparison (t’), TBC, Gd2Zr2O7 when used separately. Additionally, triple-phase (t’+c+YAG) sample TBC’s damage modes failure mechanisms cycling resistance, behavior, infiltration are also characterized discussed detail, terms microstructural performance evaluation.

THE EFFECTS OF PLASMA SPRAY PARAMETERS ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE AND PHASE COMPOSITION OF THERMAL BARRIER COATINGS MADE BY SPPS PROCESS
In this paper the effect of plasma spray parameters, atomizing gas and substrate preheat temperature on microstructure and phase composition of YSZ coatings produced by SPPS process have been investigated. The experimental results showed that increasing the power of plasma, using hydrogen as the precursor atomizing gas and increasing substrate preheat temperature decrease the amount of non-pyro...
متن کاملPlasma spraying of micro-composite thermal barrier coatings
The thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) by gas tunnel-type plasma spraying exhibited ceramic-composite features consisting of a host oxide matrix ceramic with an embedded second phase material. The densities of the composite TBC were found to be higher than those sprayed with 100wt% ZrO2 or Al2O3. In the coatings produced with powder mixtures of 50wt%, the embedded splats are found to have a relati...
متن کاملDevelopment of Nondestructive Evaluation Methods for Thermal Barrier Coatings
Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods are being developed at Argonne National Laboratory for thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) applied to components in the hot-gas path of advanced high-efficiency and low-emission gas turbines, including syn-gas fired turbines. As TBCs become “prime reliant,” it becomes important to know their conditions nondestructively to assure the reliability of these compo...
متن کاملNovel Thermal Barrier Coatings Produced by Axial Suspension Plasma Spray
Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs) on superalloy components are being used successfully in land-based gas turbine and aircraft engines. These coatings are generally made by either air plasma spraying (APS) or electron beam physical vapour deposition (EB-PVD). In general, EB-PVD TBCs have superior durability due to the columnar structure, but they are very expensive compared to APS TBCs. EB...
